Direct Healthcare Group (DHG) are proudly supporting this year’s Worldwide Pressure Injury Prevention Day, which takes place on the 16th November. The Worldwide Pressure Injury Prevention Day is co-ordinated by the European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (EPUAP) with the aim of increasing national awareness for pressure injury prevention and to educate the public on this topic.
As part of our efforts to support this important event, DHG will be providing an educational campaign on shear: Be Clear on SHEAR.
The current international guidelines (NPUAP, EPUAP, PPPIA 2014) on the prevention of pressure ulcers clearly focuses on the role of shear in the development of tissue damage, however, shear and the management of shear are poorly understood. Direct Healthcare Group’s information flyers and ward posters detail some of the important factors that should be considered when implementing a clear anti-shearing patient positioning protocol. These include:
- Support Surface
- Head of bed elevation
- Elevate the heels
- Air displacement technology
- Repositioning
If you would like to receive our educational Be Clear on SHEAR materials, please contact your local commercial manager, or alternatively, email [email protected]
