Direct Healthcare Group, has further expanded its national network with the opening of its first depot in Scotland.
The new 5,948 sq. ft. site, located in Cumbernauld, will enable Direct Healthcare Group to deliver an enhanced provision of bariatric rental solutions to the Scottish healthcare system. The strategically located site will help to deliver a fast response time to the strained healthcare service who are tackling the increasing problem of obesity.
Despite increasing efforts to tackle the issue of obesity in Scotland, the problem still remains prevalent. Official figures report that 29 per cent of the Scottish public are obese, costing the NHS an estimated £600million per year and significantly reducing Scottish productivity and economy.
The Cumbernauld-based depot will provide Scottish NHS trusts with specialist bariatric equipment and support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for 365 days of the year, ensuring high quality solutions and dignified care to those who need it. This improved patient care underlines Direct Healthcare Group’s continued commitment to supporting the Scottish NHS.
Commenting on the opening of the depot, Graham Ewart said: “Our new rental and service depot in Cumbernauld is essential for us to ensure that we continue to provide our high quality, innovative solutions across the Scottish healthcare system. The location will significantly reduce our delivery times to the healthcare professionals that we work closely with.
Furthermore, this expansion has provided an increase in jobs in the Cumbernauld area with the necessity for a regional rental and service team who will not only deliver the equipment but also provide all necessary equipment and on-site patient transfer when required.”
